Although unable to celebrate together as a community, PAREF Springdale did not allow the current global crisis to hinder them from kick-starting their silver anniversary celebration with the Titans Virtual Race and Father’s Day, which culminated last May 9, 2021 via Zoom meeting.
The Titans Virtual Race was a first of its kind for the school and in the PAREF System. Aiming to promote health and wellness to keep us safe, healthy and resilient especially in this time of the pandemic, the activity was also a fundraising project for Springdale’s various site development projects and for the SBO’s advocacies and outreach programs.
With a lot of categories to choose from, the organizers of the virtual race hope that the activity will encourage everyone to develop and live a healthy lifestyle. The registration entitles the participant to the official race jersey, medal and e-certificate of completion.
Having a little over 500 participants, this year’s virtual race was self-paced as participants were required to perform their chosen category at their own time and pace between April 19, 2021 to May 2, 2021.
The race events included running, biking, swimming and walking with various distances for participants to cover. There was also a special Father and Son category where fathers and sons complete the race together.
The virtual race culminated last May 9 with Springdale’s annual Father’s Day, the most awaited and anticipated celebration of the year for the whole school community, where we pay tribute to the dads as the pillars of our homes.
It is also a time for the Springdale community to enjoy the company of each other in an atmosphere of cheerful friendship and the culmination of the year-long house competition between Anchor and Vinta, the two school houses.
Fun-activities and games, exciting prizes and delightful presentations from the students were the highlights of this online event.
With the theme “Heroes Arise,” the school community celebrated the efforts and sacrifices of our heroes as they strive to keep the community safe and healthy during this unprecedented time. Like the heroes we aspire to become, everyone is encouraged to lead and set a good example by always observing proper health protocols.
There was a special part in the online event where mothers were also given tribute as this year’s celebration also coincided with the international celebration of Mother’s Day.
All of these activities were spearheaded by the Grade 3 Class of SY 2020-2021 and Springdale’s Student Body Organization.
The winners of the respective categories in the virtual race were also recognized in the online event.
