The Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN) through the Provincial Education Department (PED) has once again distributed an additional set of mobile tablets to aid students throughout the province amidst the “new normal learning.”
Mobile tablets were distributed simultaneously last month in the towns of Bacarra, Burgos, San Nicolas, Sarrat, Vintar and the cities of Batac and Laoag. Through PGIN-PED, a total of 862 gadgets from the EDC Burgos Windpower Corporation were turned over to secondary schools, namely, Bacarra National Comprehensive High School, Burgos Agro-Industrial School, City of Batac National High School-Poblacion, Florentino Camaquin Integrated School, Ilocos Norte National High School, Ilocos Norte Regional School of Fisheries, San Nicolas National High School, and Sarrat National High School.
Previously, Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc reach out to construction companies and other business establishments for the same cause. In addition, many private donors have donated units of mobile tablets, which were already distributed to various recipients. To date, the Provincial Government purchased nearly 7,000 units of mobile tablets, funded by its Special Education Fund.
The continuing distribution of electronic learning materials is part of PGIN’s effort to sustain excellence in the academic sector, particularly of those students who are enrolled under the blended learning scheme, ensuring that education services are accessible amidst the pandemic.– Stewart C.
