More than two years since it closed shop because of the global pandemic, Jetsetters Travel and Tours, Inc. once again opened its door to the public, this time doubling as a food establishment that offers a one-of-a-kind dining experience wherein customers can enjoy an explosion of flavors from various Asian-fusion and International cuisine at a very affordable price while having their tour itinerary planned or tickets issued.
Despite the many challenges they faced, Jetsetters Travel CEO and President Ana Marie Ho Ng said they decided to reopen their business now that the situation is gradually getting back to normal with some government restrictions have been eased out especially for foreign tourists.
“Like any other travel agencies during the lockdown, we closed down for more than two years,” said Ng. “but when the Department of Tourism and our country decided to open PHILIPPINES to foreign tourists last February, I decided to reopen because we are more into inbound.”
Jetsetters Travel is a 23-year-old company having alliances and channel partners as well as ground handlers all across the country and around the world.
Based in Mandaue and Cebu City, the Jetsetters Group takes pride setting trends in travel and tours, food and beverages, beauty health and wellness,, and transportation. Its dynamic line of services includes education, medical and adventure tourism, beauty, wellness and spa tourism packages. It also caters to inbound and outbound tours, international and domestic tickets, shipping lines and ferry tickets, hotel accommodations and transfers, local and out-of-town tours, passporting and visa assistance, exhibition and convention packages, tours, immigration clearance and documentation among others.
“We have groups coming from China, Taiwan, India, Vietnam and many other countries. All my partner agents are urging me reopen and when I told that I have to wait and see the travel business weather first, they told me not to wait too long as it might be too late. That is why we are among the first few travel agencies to reopen,” Ng added.
That prompted Ng to merge her two businesses, more so that both are in the hospitality industry. “When we have tourist, we will also have them dine in our place. Normally, our fullboard tour package for our inbound tourist, they would require us to include meals for them,” Ng furthered. “But as I have said, the industry is not yet ready to go full blast so we have to go slowly, this is why I am maximizing this 75 square meters space I am leasing. Instead of renting two commercial spaces, I have merged two hospitality businesses together so it would be easier for me to manage them both. That’s really the purpose, hitting two birds with one stone.”
Once everything was already in place, Ng said the other challenge for them is finding the right food that will attract all kinds of domestic and international market. It was then that she came up with the idea of presenting popular street foods with an array of complex flavors from different Asian dishes as the main showcase of Jetsetter Travel Cafe.
“We offer street foods with Asian fusion in our menu like our ‘ginabot’ (fried pig intestine) that is being cooked to perfection Thai style and Vietnamese fish fillet in spicy salted egg sauce. Also, our sauces are distinct from the others. We developed our own sauce with a wide variety of imported and local spices, herbs and condiments that gives much variation in the flavors of the food we serve.” Ng shared.
“Above all, our food are freshly cooked. We only prepare it once ordered so it will be served hot and fresh. Everyone must really come and have a taste,” Ng continued.
For only P299 per head, you can enjoy unlimited servings of all-time Asian favorite foods plus Taiwanese and Korean style fried chicken in 16 flavors spread into eight spicy and eight non-spicy flavors. Rice and WiFi are unlimited too!
