Harbour Hustle: International Dragon Boat Races and LINE Friends Display (June 15 to 16)
Over the years, the annual Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Races (IDBR) has become a hallmark event on the international sports scene. Set against the stunning backdrop of Victoria Harbour, this year’s competition will feature more than 170 teams from around the world, including the Philippines’ very own Philippine Dragon Boat Federation (PDBF) Elite who bagged silver and bronze medals in last year’s event. Atty. Jay Villanueva, team leader of the PDBF, reminisced about the competition last year and hopes to have a repeat of their success this year, saying, “The Philippine Dragon Boat Elite Team is elated to once again represent the Philippines in the Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Race this 2024. This year, we are hopeful that we can once again bring pride to our country and people with a crew that is composed of the top dragon boat athletes in the Philippines. We are excited to race against the best of the best, which the dragon boat race in Hong Kong never fails to deliver.” Egged on by drummers and screaming crowds, the lively energy of the people pumps up the two-day event.
Adding to the fun, beloved LINE FRIENDS characters will don dragon boat outfits. Visitors can explore dragon boat-themed LINE FRIENDS displays and indulge in local delights along the Avenue of Stars for a complete day-to-night experience from 8 June to 1 July. Additionally, limited-edition Hong Kong goodies await at the LINE FRIENDS pop-up store.
