Balilihan LGU is this year’s CROWN awardee at the CV-RNC awards

CEBU CITY— The Municipality of Balilihan, Bohol is this year’s Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) awardee as it bested two other contenders scoring the highest for its 2023 nutrition accomplishments.

Balilihan Mayor, Pureza Chatto received the award during the Central Visayas Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC) awarding ceremony held on August 9 at the Golden Peak Hotel, Cebu City where the National Nutrition Council (NNC7) recognized the best and exemplary nutrition performers in Central Visayas.

Balilihan LGU also received the Green Banner Seal of Compliance Award in 2023 and 2022.

The CROWN award is given to a municipality, city, or province that has been adjudged by the interagency regional nutrition evaluation team as outstanding in the region in the implementation of its nutrition action plan for three consecutive years.

On the other hand, 10 local governments were bestowed with the Green Banner seal this year and they are Bohol Province and Negros Oriental Province; Cebu City, Lapu-lapu City, Mandaue City, Tagbilran City and Tanjay City; Enrique Villanueva, Siquijor; Garcia Hernandez, Bohol and San Juan, Siquijor.

Meanwhile, Regional Outstanding Municipal Nutrition Action Officer award were also conferred to MNAO Mhay Licayan of Guindulman, Bohol and the Regional Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar to BNS Rochelle Planas of Barangay Cambaol, Alicia, Bohol.

DNPC Antonieta Delfino of Negros Oriental got the Regional Outstanding District award while MNPC Jacquilene Casiple of Talibon, Bohol received the accolade for the Municipal Nutrition Program Coordinator award.

The awards are based on the LGU’s Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plans and Implementation (MELLPI) Pro scores from their 2023 performance. The Central Visayas Regional Nutrition Committee awards serves as a venue to share pioneering initiatives in nutrition programs as model for future emulation.

The annual event also acknowledges the dedication made by the retiring nutrition workers for their contributions in the implementation of the Philippine Plan of Actior for Nutrition (PPAN) in the region.
