In a bid to strengthen and grow the housing industry, the Subdivision and Housing Developers Association Central Visayas (SHDA-CV) will hold a Housing Summit, where key industry players will share knowledge, and explore new opportunities and trends.

SHDA-CV is setting its sights on the future with this year’s forum theme: “Building Tomorrow’s Homes for the Emerging Generation.” The Summit will be on September 17, 2024 at Nustar Resort and Casino Ballroom.

SHDA-CV President Harold Vince See emphasized the importance of anticipating and adapting to the changing needs, and preferences of future homebuyers, particularly as the housing industry faces new trends and technological advancements.

See highlighted the importance of understanding the outlook and needs of the emerging generation, particularly millennials and the upcoming Generation X. These groups represent the majority of current and future homebuyers, and their preferences are shaping the housing market in significant ways.

“What’s the future for housing? What are the real building technologies? What are the trends that our future home buyers would buy?” See pointed out.

A Hub for Learning and Innovation

SHDA-CV Governor Anthony Noel emphasized the summit’s dual purpose: to align with the association’s mission and vision and to serve as a vital platform for promoting industry growth and fostering collaboration among developers.

One of the primary objectives of the summit is to facilitate continuous learning among developers, Noel said.

The Housing Summit offers a unique opportunity for participants to gain insights from expert speakers, particularly regarding the latest policies and regulations in housing.

These discussions are essential for developers to stay informed and compliant with the evolving legal landscape, ensuring they can deliver high-quality, legally sound housing projects. The summit also serves as a venue for developers to exchange ideas and best practices.

By learning from one another, participants can enhance their approach to financing, project management, and customer engagement.

Noel pointed out that while traditional bank financing remains a cornerstone of the industry, developers can now leverage various financing options through partnerships with government agencies and private companies. The diverse financing options are crucial in making housing more accessible and affordable to a broader segment of the population, he added.

Promoting Industry Efficiency and Affordability

Another key focus of the summit is to explore new technologies and innovative business practices that can make the housing industry more efficient.

Noel emphasized that by adopting these advancements, developers can reduce construction costs and deliver more affordable housing to their clients.

The ultimate goal is to grow the industry and increase the availability of quality homes, thereby addressing the ongoing housing shortage.

He also addressed the importance of infrastructure in supporting the growth of housing developments.

Noel noted that successful housing projects require more than just well-designed homes.

During the summit, government executives will discuss the status of various infrastructure projects, including large-scale initiatives critical to the success of housing developments.
