The Cebu Cordova Link Expressway Corporation (CCLEC) has partnered with Land Transportation Office (LTO) 7 to uphold safe driving on the 8.9-kilometer modern toll expressway.

LTO 7 officially turned over the deputization order and TOP (temporary operatorโ€™s permit) today to the CCLEX patrol crew at the CCLEX Toll Plaza.

โ€œOur expressway is a traffic discipline zone, and we are continuously partnering and collaborating with LTO as part of our road safety advocacy,โ€ said Cebu Cordova Link Expressway Corporation (CCLEC) Operations Manager Mareon Therese Miole.

โ€œWhile our patrol crew can now issue tickets to erring motorists, we trust that our CCLEX road users will abide by traffic rules and regulations even in and out of our expressway,โ€ she added.

LTO 7 together with CCLEC also held a simulation today inside the expressway, reminding motorists to observe speed limits (40kph on main bridge and curves and 60kph on the causeway) and wear seatbelts, among others. For motorcycle riders, they were reminded to wear their helmets and proper riding gears.

Last June, the 16 CCLEX patrol crews were officially deputized by LTO after completing and passing the agencyโ€™s deputization training and examinations.

Aside from strictly enforcing traffic rules and regulations, the patrol crews are also responsible, among others, in responding to any traffic-related incidents, ensure that CCLEX is safe to road users, and assist motorists when their vehicles break down.

CCLEC reiterates that ensuring road safety is a shared responsibility.

CCLEX, now considered the tallest and highest bridgeway structure in the country, is a project of CCLEC, in partnership with the local government units of Cebu City and Municipality of Cordova.

CCLEX, an engineering feat and Cebuโ€™s newest iconic landmark, is seen to not only ease traffic congestion in the metro but also spark socio-economic development in the province, according to a study by the University of San Carlos.

CCLEC is a wholly owned subsidiary of MPTC, the toll road arm of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC), a publicly-listed infrastructure holding company and a member of the MVP Group of Companies.

MPTC is the largest toll road concessionaire and operator in the Philippines. The companyโ€™s expansion goals include establishing toll operations in the Visayas, other parts of the Philippines, and in neighboring countries, notably Vietnam, and Indonesia.
