The Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN), led by Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc, recently started distributing Yuletide assistance to barangay frontliners throughout the province to show appreciation for the continuous services of frontliners in the midst of the pandemic, through the PGIN “NariMATT a Paskua” Christmas Caravan.
“Talagang nag-overtime kayo for the last few years, gusto lang po namin magpasalamat at ipaalala sa inyo na nandito lang po kami para sa inyo” Governor Matthew Manotoc stated.
In a week, Governor Marcos visited all the provinces’ cities and municipalities to distribute Noche Buena packs, t-shirts, mugs, and Php 1,500 to each beneficiary.
While expressing his gratitude to frontliners, Gov. Matthew Manotoc also assured them that PGIN is always ready to provide for the community’s needs as long as it can.
“At kung may kailangan pa po kayo mag reach out po kayo anytime sa amin,” he added
In addition to providing Yuletide assistance to 11,000 barangay frontliners, the provincial government also provided snacks and school supplies to nearly 12,000 daycare students, grocery packages to 2,000 senior citizens and 1,000 persons with disabilities (PWD).
Meanwhile, Mrs. Corazon Lilian Rin, head of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), stated that the purpose of the Christmas Caravan is to help improve the situation of many Ilokano families by providing school supplies and other necessities to their children, as well as grocery packs and Noche Buena packs to senior citizens, PWDs, and Millennium Development Goals beneficiaries (MDG) to let them feel the spirit of the season.
Through the caravan, the Governor assured that his administration will now shift its focus to developing agriculture and fisheries, helping livestock growers and MSMEs, and welcoming new investments and new businesses in the province.
