Over 150 building maintenance and safety officers, electrical engineers, and business leaders converged for the much-awaited forum on the Fire Code of the Philippines: Business Compliance with the 2019 RA 9514 – Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR), on February 13 (Monday) at the Golden Prince Hotel and Suites.

The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized the forum as an avenue to clarify the key features of the amended implementing rules and regulations of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and for the business community to speak and air out concerns and hope to achieve a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Code. The forum also underscored that compliance with fire and safety protocols is beyond a legal obligation and a crucial aspect in securing a Fire Safety Inspection Certificate (FSIC) as a prerequisite in obtaining a business permit for every business enterprise.

Responding to several experiential issues raised, CINSP Margaha also encouraged business leaders to be conscientious in their interpretation of the RA 9514 as she welcomes consultations, discussions and clarifications with the Bureau.
