The Spirit of Bayanihan is alive again as Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV) together with the Department of Health (DOH) Region 7, in cooperation with Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) join hands for the first leg of a series of Blood Donation Drive, starting in its first event in Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
Local Government Units, represented by their city mayors, Mayor Edgardo Labella (Cebu City) and Mayor Jonas Cortes (Mandaue City) also graced the launching last July 8.
Because rainy season is here, Presidential Assistant to the Visayas, Sec. Michael Lloyd Dino foresees the rise of dengue cases, which will result for the demand of blood in our communities to peak. Given the current COVID crisis we are facing, OPAV believes that the challenge also intensifies for our health care system to supply this eminent need.
In addition to this, OPAV will strengthen the blood-donation drive in light of the recent developments and success of the first-ever patient who survived COVID through the Convalescent Plasma Exchange at the Cebu Doctors University Hospital.
During this occassion, face-shields donations for Mandaue City and DOH, (courtesy of REACT and Davies Paints) were also turned-over.
