Management and labor leaders in the mining industry in Central Visayas recently formed the Industry Tripartite Council in Mining (ITC-Mining).

Undersecretary Victor Del Rosario, who is also the concurrent head of the Department of Labor Region VII, welcomed the creation of ITC-Mining.

The birth of the ITC in Mining manifests the willingness of both the management and labor sectors to continually work together and maintain a peaceful working environment in the region, Undersecretary Del Rosario pointed out.

During the induction of the new set of ITC-Mining Board of Trustees for labor and management, he lauded the concerted efforts exerted by the existing ITCs, Tripartite Industrial Peace Councils (TIPCs) and the Regional Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (RTIPC-7).

โ€œWe cannot maintain industrial peace without the cooperation from labor and management. I am so delighted of this development. The creation of the ITC in Mining would mean that we will have more avenue in promoting tripartism and social dialogue to the public,โ€ he stressed.

Del Rosario then urged the ITC-Mining to make the council โ€œfunctional in the truest sense of the word.โ€

The labor department will spearhead the conduct of regular meetings and learning sessions for the council to help make it stay relevant in making sure that cooperation and understanding among its member-companies continue to exist, he added.

The BOTs for Labor included the following, namely: Rodolfo Pacana, Eugene Daculan, and Julio Resuelo all from Carmen Copper Corporation; Jeffrey Castillon from Lazi Bay Resources Development, Inc.; Bernardo Bihag from the Philippine Mining Service Corporation- Bohol; and James I. Dy from the Philippine Mining Service Corporation- Alcoy.

The BOTs from Management comprised of Mitzie Almira Carin of Solid Earth Development Corporation; Mark Vincent Maristela of the Philippine Service Corporation- Alcoy; Rolly Anselmo from Monark Equipment Corporation; Franky Hong Fat Tang from Lazi Bay Resources Development, Inc.; Carmelle Arcanses from the Philippine Mining Service Corporation- Bohol; and Genevieve Paquibot from Carmen Copper Corporation.

The BOTs took their oath during the Labor Day celebration held at SM Cinema 2, SM City Cebu, where the Labor Day Activities of DOLE RO-7 took place.
